Consulting engagements are about getting things done.
Just about every consultant I know says something like that and some really mean it. Too often though, consulting engagements end up with consultants telling the client what they want to hear. Almost every client says that’s not what they want, but their behavior indicates otherwise. If you want someone to tell you what you want to hear, I’m
not your guy.
It’s been said that the first casualty of war is truth. I would argue that it is also the first casualty of promotion, especially to the chief executive level. People don’t want to give the boss bad news. That’s natural. But sometimes it’s hard for CEOs to get a realistic perspective on their own organizations. If you want a ‘Yes-Man’, I’m not your guy.
Many leaders say they want change but believe the change should come from everyone but them. There are things that only leaders can do to effect change in their organizations but some are hesitant to change the way they lead. If you believe leadership is off limits to scrutiny and feedback, I’m not your guy.
I begin with the end in mind and I speak truth to power, no matter how ugly that truth may be. If that’s what you want, then I’m your guy.
I’ve worked with a lot of different people and organizations, from sport psychology performance enhancement interventions with athletes to strategic planning for chambers of commerce, but the bulk of my consulting work focuses on three areas:
Behavioral Health Information Technology
Leadership and Management
Board Governance and Strategic Planning
In addition to consulting, I also offer writing services, presentations, and individualized coaching and training. See the accompanying tabs for more information.
For seventeen years I served as the CEO of two award winning companies and then six years as the first Chief Clinical Officer of the largest provider of Electronic Health Records (EHR) and related services to the behavioral health and social services sector. In 2017 I resurrected my consulting practice specializing in clinical information
technology, management and operations and leadership and governance.
From sport psychology consultations to a competitive archer to strategic planning for chambers of commerce, I've done it all.
Whether you need someone to write authored pieces or to serve as a ghost writer, I can help.
Engagement is king when speaking to an audience. I provide presentations that are interesting and fun while still getting across the information.
